Netflix is probably the most famous OTT platform across the globe. It’s known for giving shows and movies with great content. In India also, Netflix was one of the earliest OTT platforms that created shows exclusively for OTT only. Here are the five best Indian Web series available on Netflix.
Delhi Crime
Directed by Richie Mehta, Delhi Crime, tells the events that took place after the infamous Nibhaya Rape Case. Delhi Crime is a semi-fictionalized version of that incident. Based mainly on the police case files, the story begins on the night of 16th December when the police saw the male and the female victims near the Mahipalpur flyover. It starred Shefali Shah as a cop who acted brilliantly. Delhi Crime won an Emmy Award also.
Sacred Games
Sacred Games is based on the book of the same name by Vikram Chandra and was adapted into a web series by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. It was one of the earliest web series where Bollywood stars acted. Saif Ali Khan played a righteous Sikh cop and Nawazuddin Siddique played a negative role of a mafia don who rises to power. It had two seasons and both the seasons did quite well.
Ray
Ray is an anthology show with four different stories. All four stories have different directors and actors and the stories were taken from short stories of the great Satyajit Ray hence the title Ray. It had an ensemble cast of Ali Faizal, Harshvardhan Kapoor, Kay Kay Menon, Manoj Bajpai, and Gajraj Singh. The show was a big success and all the episodes were appreciated by the audience and critics alike.
Kota Factory
Kota Factory tells the story of teenagers who comes to Kota to get coaching for the clearing the entrance exams for IIT. The show is in black and white that makes it different from other shows. Kota is famous for being the coaching hub of the country and this show perfectly captures its spirit. It’s one of the most successful shows on Netflix and it had two seasons and both were appreciated for its realistic portrayal of the life in Kota
She
She is a seven-episodic crime drama series featuring Aaditi Pohankar, Vijay Varma, and Vishwas Kini. It is a tale of a female constable who becomes undercover to eliminate an underworld gang, which becomes a reticent Mumbai constable’s road to power, as she realizes her potential to do so. It’s directed by Arif Ali and Avinash Das, with the script and created by Imtiaz Ali.
