In the last couple of years, web series’ popularity increased dramatically especially post-covid, and many OTT platforms were launched. In those OTT platforms, there are some web series that became quite popular and then the trend of seasons started where one series will end at a cliffhanger, and then in the next season the story will continue and this process made people wait for the next season to see what happens next. Here we will discuss five such famous web series that are coming back with their next season this year.
- Kota Factory
The Kota Factory web series is one of the most popular web series because of its script, showing the underbelly of a coaching center hub in India, Kota a town in Rajasthan. The character of Jeetu Bhaiya played by Jeetender Kumar became quite famous and later acted in another famous web series Panchayat. Both the previous seasons are streamed on Netflix and recently Netflix announced its third season coming soon which made the fans of Kota Factory wait for it with bated breath. Along with Jeetender Kumar Kota Factory also stars Urvi Singh, Ahsaas Channa, Mayur More, Ranjan Raj, Naveen Kasturia, Ranjan Raj, etc. The story of Kota Factory revolves around the struggles of a bunch of students who come to Kota for coaching to clear the entrance exam of IIT and get admission to IIT.
- Rocket Boys
Rocket Boys web series streams on SonyLIV and it’s a biographical series of famous Indian scientists such as Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha, Vikram Sarabhai, and APJ Abdul Kalam. The previous seasons featured Jim Sarbh as Homi Jehangir Bhabha, Ishwak Singh as Vikram Sarabhai, and Arjun Radhakrishnan as APJ Abdul Kalam. After the success of the previous two seasons, the makers teased its third season which will be about a new group of scientists who made India proud. Created by Nikhil Advani and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapoor, Rocket Boys without an iota of doubt is one of the best original web series in recent years.
- Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives
Streaming on Netflix Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives is a docudrama that shows the personal lives of wives of famous Bollywood personalities such as Neelam Kothari, Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Pandey, and Seema Khan. They are the wives of famous names in Bollywood Samir Soni, Sanjay Kapoor, Chunky Pandey, and Sohail Khan (divorced) respectively. All these personalities featured in the previous two seasons with cameos of Karan Johar, Malaika Arora, Shanaya Kapoor (daughter of Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor), Arjun Kapoor, Bobby Deol along with the king of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan who appeared in the first season of this web series. Netflix recently announced season 3 of Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives.
- Mismatched
Mismatched is a coming-of-age romantic drama streaming on Netflix and it has Rohit Saraf and famous YouTuber Prajakta Koli in the lead roles along with Devyani Shorey, Rannvijay Singh, and Vidya Malvade in pivotal roles. Directed by Akarsh Khurana and Nipun Dharmadhikari it’s based on the book When Dimple Met Rishi written by Sandhya Menon. Produced by Ronnie Screwala it already had two seasons which got mixed reviews from the critics but became quite popular especially among teenagers and Gen Z. The story of Mismatched centers around Rishi (Rohit Shroff) and Dimple (Prajakta Koli) and their love story. The third season is coming soon on Netflix.
- Made in Heaven
Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment and created by famous Bollywood director Zoya Akhtar Made in Heaven had only one season that streamed on Amazon Prime in 2019 and it got great reviews and was quite successful among the viewers. But after season one there has been no news about its next season but the shooting of the second season has been reportedly completed and will release somewhere around mid-2023. Set in Delhi this series revolves around two wedding planners Tara Khanna played by Shobhita Dhulipala and Karan Mehra played by Arjun Mathur. The other important cast members include Kalki Koechin, Jim Sarbh, and Shashank Mehra.
