Five Unlucky Bollywood Actors Who Lost Their Careers Because of Silly Mistakes
Bollywood is also known as the dream industry because of the glamour and money involved. Every day hundreds of aspirants land in Mumbai to chase their dreams of becoming an actor. Few become successful and many go back but some Bollywood actors ruined their flourishing careers to silly mistakes. Here is the list of five such Bollywood actors.
Vivek Oberai
Vivek Oberai is the first name that came to our mind when talking about Bollywood actors because of silly mistakes. Vivek Oberai made a startling debut in Bollywood with Ramgopal Varma’s crime drama Company and then he gave a big hit with Yashraj Film’s Saathiya. He was on cloud nine when his career was going smoothly and everyone touted him as the next big thing but he did a silly mistake that finished his flourishing career. He was supposedly in a relationship with Aishwarya Rai and that’s when Vivek Oberai called for a press meeting where he openly blamed Salman Khan who was Aishwarya’s ex-boyfriend for treating him after getting drunk. He openly challenged Salman Khan and it cost his career. First of all Aishwarya Rai never admitted that she was seeing Vivek Oberai and after that infamous press conference, producers stopped taking him for movies and actresses rejected movies with him, such was the power of Salman Khan. Later Vivek Oberai did give some successful movies like Omkara and Shootout at Lokhandwala but till then it was very late and VivekOberai was never able to recover from it.
Shiney Ahuja
Shiney Ahuja debuted with Sudhir Mishra’s Hazaron KhwaishenAisi and his performance earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Male. Then came Gangster which was a big hit and everyone thought of Shiney Ahuja as an upcoming star but an incident in his life destroyed his promising career. He was accused of rape by his maid-servant and the case went to court. He was found guilty and sent to jail and his career was finished.
Fardeen Khan
Coming from an illustrious family, Fardeen Khan debuted with Prem Agan which was a disaster at the box office but he got a second chance when Ramgopal Varma signed him for Jungle. Loosely based on the life of Veerappan, Jungle did decent business at the box office after that Fardeen Khan signed lots of movies and his movies like Love Ke Liye KuchBhi and No entry did pretty well at the box office. He was caught with illegal drugs, cocaine and police even arrested him later Fardeen got bail also but it affected his goodwill a lot in the industry.
Sanjay Dutt
Though Sanjay Dutt’s career never got finished like the names mentioned above but some incidents in his life stopped him from being at the position at the box office he could have achieved. During the earlier days of his career he lost out on many movies because of his drug addiction and he was in rehab for treatment for more than a year. After coming back he became serious about his life and in the early 90s he gave superhits like Saajan, Sadak, Khalnayak, etc and he was touted as the next superstar after Amitabh Bachchan. He had a huge fan following but he got arrested under TADA for keeping illegal weapons at his residence and it’s the incident that changed his career quite badly. He was ousted from many movies because of his court case and he was in jail also for one and a half years. Though he did movies after coming out of jail, he could not reach the position in Bollywood that he could have if that incident never happened.
Manisha Koirala
Manisha Koirala debuted with the superhit movie Saudagar directed by Subhash Ghai and went on to give many hit movies. She was highly acclaimed for her performances in movies like Khamoshi and Dil se but later on, she became addicted to alcohol, and producers stopped casting her because of her addiction as it affected movie shoots. Then she signed some B grade movies like JaaniDushman, Market, etc which affected her position in Bollywood. Though she found some success with Ramgopal Varma’s Company but that’s it. She is one of those personalities who destroyed her bright career because of an addiction.
