Jio Studio recently unveiled 62 movies and web series making it the largest Indian studio which has so many upcoming projects in its kitty. While some movies will release in theatres while some will release in Jio’s OTT Jio Cinema. It’s estimated that Jio Studio has invested around 2000 crores in these projects. Here we have picked five projects out of 62 movies and web series.
- Bloody Daddy
Bloody Daddy is a movie directed by Ali Abbas Zafar of Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hain Fame and it stars Shahid Kapoor in the lead role. Bloody Daddy is an official adaptation of Nuit Blanche, a 2011 French movie. The teaser of the movie was dropped recently online and it seemed like a high-octane action movie. After the success of Shahid Kapoor’s web series Farzi, Bloody Daddy is going to be a much-anticipated movie for sure. Along with Shahid Kapoor, the movie also features Diana Penty, Sanjay Kapoor, and Ronit Roy.
- Bhediya 2
Bhediya 2 is the sequel to Varun Dhawan starrer Bhediya which was released last year. Bhediya 2 is part of the horror universe which has movies like Stree, Roohi, Bhediya, and the upcoming Stree 2. Bhediya 2 will continue the story of Bhaskar Sharma (Varun Dhawan) who became a werewolf after being bitten by a mysterious wolf. Amar Kaushik who directed the first part will direct the sequel also.
- Zara Hatke Zara Bachke
Zara Hatke Zara Bachke stars Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan and its aromantic comedy is directed by Laxman Utekar who earlier directed the critically acclaimed movie Mimi starring Kriti Sanon. The story of the movie is set in the heartland of Uttar Pradesh and the fresh pairing of Vicky Kaushal and Sara Khan makes it an interesting project to look forward to. It will be released in the Jio Cinema App instead of theatres.
- Section 84
Section 84 is a courtroom drama movie starring Amitabh Bachchan and it’s directed by Ribhu Dasgupta who worked with Amitabh Bachchan earlier in Yudh and Te3n. Along with Amitabh Bachchan, the movie also stars Nimrat Kaur, Diana Penty, and Abhishek Banerjee. Whether the movie will release in theatres or directly on Jio Cinema is not yet unveiled but it’s definitely one of the interesting projects announced by Jio Studios.
- Laal Batti
Directed by Prakash Jha, Laal Batti is a web series starring Nana Patekar and it’s going be Nana Pateker’s web series debut through his movies released on OTT but it’s the first time Nana Patekar is featuring in a web series. Prakash Jha is known for making realistic and hard-hitting movies like Gangajal, Apaharan, Rajneeti, etc and his web series Ashram has been a huge success. Laal Batti is a political thriller and it will be interesting to see what the combination of Nana Patekar and Prakash Jha has in store for us
