Four Upcoming Movies That Might Change the Tide for Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar is one of the few stars from the 90s who are still relevant and considered one of the biggest stars in the country. But last couple of years his career has been on a down slip as he gave continued flop movies such as Bell Bottom, Bachchan Pandey, Samrat Prithiviraj, Rakshabandhan, Cuttputli, Ram Setu and his latest release Selfie co-starring Emraan Hashmi had been a disaster earning only 20 crores at the box office. But ups and downs are part of everyone’s life and an actor like Akshay Kumar can’t be called off after a few flops. Here we have curated a list of four movies that may change the tide for Akshay Kumar by breaking his streak of flop movies:
- Oh My God 2!
Oh My God 2! (OMG2!) is the spiritual sequel of the 2012 superhit movie Oh My God! It starred Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar played the role of Lord Krishna. The first poster of OMG2 was released a year ago and this time Akshay Kumar is playing the role of Lord Shiva and Arun Govil who played the role of Lord Ram in the iconic TV series Ramayana is again playing the role of Lord Ram after almost 30 years. OMG2! Is a satire on the Indian education system and it features Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles. OMG2 can be a hit if made well because the first part had a great script and because of the brand value the movie can get a good opening and if the movie turns out to be as good as the first part, this movie can be a hit.
- Soorarai Pottu Remake
It’s a remake of the Tamil movie Soorarai Pottu that featured Suriya in the lead role and was a big critical and commercial success at the box office. The movie was loosely based on G.R. Gopinath founded an Indian low-cost airline Simplifly Deccan which later became Deccan Airlines. The Hindi remake stars Akshay Kumar, Radhika Madan, and Paresh Rawal. The movie is the story of an underdog who archives something great at last and such movies mostly do well at the box office. Kongara who directed the Tamil version is directing the Bollywood adaptation also and it’s one of the highly anticipated movies of this year.
- Bade Miyan Chote Miyan
A high-octane action movie Bade Miyan Chote Miyan stars Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, two biggest action stars of the country, and the cherry on the cake is that the movie is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar who earlier directed the blockbuster movie Tiger Zinda Hain which had great action set pieces with a gripping storyline. After a long time, Akshay Kumar the original action star of Bollywood is doing a full action movie. Irrespective of Akhsay’s last few flops, both trade analysts and audiences had huge expectations from the movie. Releasing on Christmas this year, it’s expected that Bade Miyan Chote may set the screen on fire as audiences nowadays love big spectacle action movies such as Pathaan which became the comeback movie of Shahrukh Khan after giving a string of flops and a hiatus of four years. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan can do the same for Akshay Kumar and can bring him back as one of the biggest stars of the country.
- Hera Pheri 3
Last but not the least, there is no doubt that Hera Pheri 3 is the most awaited movie of Akshay Kumar. The brand Hera Pheri has a huge fan base and both Hera Pheri and Hera Pheri 2 were iconic and successful movies. The trio of Akshay Kumar as Raju, Sunil Shetty as Shyam, and Paresh Rawal as Baburao are iconic characters. In between news came that Akshay Kumar dropped out of the movie and Kartik Aryan replaced him which created a huge uproar among the audiences and demanded to bring Akshay Back as without Akshay, Hera Pheri 3 will be a huge disappointment. Akshay Kumar was brought back in the movie and the shoot of the movie even started. Probably releasing next year, Hera Pheri 3 is produced by Firoz A. Nadiadwala and directed by Farhad Samji Hera Pheri 3 is a sure-shot hit even if it has an average script because of the Hera Pheri brand.
