1. Chow Chow

Chow Chow belongs to the spitz breed of dogs and it originated from China. While it looks very cute, it’s a strongly built dog, with a square profile, and has a broad skull and small, triangular, erect ears with rounded tips. Chow Chow is known for a very dense double coat that may be smooth or rough. By nature, they are very dignified, bright, and serious-minded. It’s a medium-sized dog with a length of 17-20 inches, weighs around 20-30 kilograms and its lifespan is 8-12 years. They are very loyal to their owners but quite aloof and sometimes can be aggressive with strangers and other animals. They are needed to be trained from an early age then they will be able to control their aggression.

2. Mastiff
   

Also known as the British Mastiff, they were first bred in Britain and belong to the canine clan which is as ancient as the human civilization. It’s a large-sized breed of dog. It is an imposing yet good-natured animal. Mastiffs are quite loving, loyal, and affectionate toward their owners, and their calm nature makes them good companions for older children. But, the breed is not recommended if you have toddlers in your house because of the huge size it may hurt the toddler unintentionally. Its main characteristics include being dignified, good-natured, loyal, and courageous. It’s a huge, heavy-boned dog of courage and extraordinary strength. They can be magnificent pets but because of their size and courage, you need to take proper care of them and train them accordingly from a young age.

3. Old English Sheepdog
   

The Old English Sheepdog is a large-sized breed of dog that was first bred in England and used as a herding dog. It’s also called Shepherd’s Dog and bob-tailed sheepdog. By nature, it’s smart, gentle, and adaptable. The old English Sheepdog is famous for its plentiful coat and peek-a-boo hairdo, distinct bear-like posture, and warm, friendly nature. It is a large size dog and beneath its heavy double coat lies a muscular and solid drover, with an abundance of bones and it stands 21 or 22 inches at the shoulder. 

4. Miniature American Shepherd

As the name suggests it’s a small-sized dog that first emerged in America. They are extremely intelligent and docile and many times trained to take part in dog sports like herding, agility, obedience, canine freestyle, flyball, etc. It’s intelligent, good-natured, and devoted by nature. Its height is 14-18 inches (male) and 13-17 inches (female) and has a lifespan of 12-13 years. Despite their size, Minis are every inch a true herding dog: energetic, versatile, rugged, and extremely bright. The eye-catching coat comes in black, blue merle, red, and red merle. 5. Cocker Spaniel

Cocker Spaniel is the smallest sporting spaniel, which stands for about about 14 to 15 inches. It has got big, dreamy eyes and a playful personality, and is considered one of the world’s best-loved breeds. In the beginning, they were bred as hunting dogs but today it makes for a very good family dog. If you are looking for a family dog then Cocker Spaniel can be a very good option because along with being loyal, they are friendly with children also.

6. German Shorthaired Pointer

The German Shorthaired Pointers are medium to large-sized breed of dogs that were first bred in the 19th century in Germany for hunting. These medium to large-sized dogs are passionate gundog who flourishes on spirited exercise, positive training, and a lot of care and love. They stand between 23 and 25 inches at the shoulder and the weight varies from 25 to 30 kilos and females can be a little bit smaller. The coat is the solid liver (a reddish brown), or liver and white in unique patterns.

7. Boston Terrier

Boston Terrier comes under the category of small-sized dogs and its size is 15-17 inches. It typically weighs around 5 to 7 kilos and its lifespan is around11-13 years. It is a joyful little cute dog and its features include a tight tuxedo jacket, a sporty but compact body, and the friendly glow in his big, round eyes.
